প্রিয় বাংলাদেশি কমিউনিটি এর ভাই ও বোনেরা,

প্রথমেই অশেষ ধন্যবাদ জানাতে চাই আমাকে আপনাদের প্রতিনিধি হিসেবে নির্বাচিত করার জন্য। আমার পিএইচডির প্রথম বছরের শেষের দিকেই এত বড় একটি সংগঠনের হাল ধরতে পারাটা আমার জন্য অনেক আনন্দের। এখানে আসার পর থেকেই বিডিএসএ এর কর্মকান্ডে ও সাফল্যে আমি মুগ্ধ, এবং এর ধারাবাহিকতা ধরে রাখতে আমি সচেষ্ট থাকব।

কিন্তু আপনারা জানেন এই অগ্রযাত্রা আপনাদের পরামর্শ, সহযোগিতা এবং অনুপ্রেরণা ছাড়া কিছুতেই সম্ভব নয়। আমরা যারা গবেষণা করি তারা জানি যে আমরা সবসময় আমাদের পূর্ববর্তী জ্ঞানের উপর ভিত্তি করে ক্রমশ নতুন কিছু নির্মাণ করি। ঠিক তেমনি বিডিএসএ এর এতদিনের সাফল্যের উপর ভর দিয়ে আমরা নতুন কিছু উপহার দিতে চাই। 

আমি বিশ্বাস করি যেভাবে আপনারা পূর্ববর্তী বছরগুলোতে আপনাদের সামর্থ্যের সেরাটা দিয়ে একের পর এক সাফল্যে বিডিএসএকে সমৃদ্ধ করে তুলেছেন, সেই প্রচেষ্টা এ বছরও অব্যাহত থাকবে। 

আসুন আমরা সবাই মিলে পারডু তে অসাধারণ কিছু স্মৃতি রেখে যাই। এই স্মৃতি একদিন আমাদের হাসাবে, কাঁদাবে, অনুপ্রেরণা দিবে। যেভাবে রবীন্দ্রনাথ বলে গেছেন-

“বিদায়ের আগে দু’ চারিটা কথা রেখে যাব সুমধুর”

আবারো অনেক ধন্যবাদ।

Dear all,

We will have our first round of BDSA elections starting today. All paid members of BDSA students (grads and undergrads) should have received a doodle poll by now or will within the next hour.

Please check your purdue.edu email and your CISCO Quarantine and SPAM folder. If you did not receive it yet after that then email me at tsaha@purdue.edu. 

Rules: 

1) Only vote once with your purdue.edu email

2) Only vote for 3 candidates even if it allows you to vote for more

3) If you vote more than 3 candidates then your vote will be canceled!

4) Email tsaha@purdue.edu only if you have any questions

This year we are inviting all BDSA family (students and student families) and our professional community (West Lafayette and Lafayette group) to attend the final event of BDSA 2018-19 committee, the annual general meeting (AGM)

What: AGM

When: May 4th Saturday at 7pm-9:30 pm

Where: Lawson Commons (the big screen lounge as soon as you enter Lawson)

Incentive: Finals are over and free dinner from AMER's GRILL (#Kabobs), also get to know the BDSA president of next year.

Hope you had a great blast this year with BDSA and looking forward to what the upcoming year brings us.

Dear all,

We come to the end of the 1st round of Elections. We have 64 eligible voters from which 48 participated in the 1st round of Election. It was exactly 75% participation rate which makes this voting valid (more than 50% has to participate for any election to be valid) according to the constitution.

We can easily state that we had no competition for the top 2 candidates but some competition for the 3rd top candidate. Here are the top 3 candidates and results.

Congrats to:

1) Shahedur Rahman - 60.4% (29/48 votes)

2) Md Shams Ud Duha - 50% (24/48 votes)

3) Abdullah Al Noman Ovi - 41.7% (20/48 votes)

2nd Round Election Update:

We will start the 2nd round of Elections on Thursday. Each of the 64 members gets to vote only 1 candidate among the top 3.

Interestingly, you will two options:

1) Vote Online by Saturday, May 4th at 5 pm

OR

2) Vote between 6:30pm-8pm on Saturday, May 4th at the AGM Dinner in a ballot box.

You get to take a selfie with the ballot box and get a mark under your left thumbnail if you chose option 2 to get the Bangladeshi voting culture feel.

Once you receive the email for voting for round 2 on Thursday and you vote online, then you automatically become ineligible for Option 2. After Saturday 5 pm, you lose the right to vote with Option 1. If you arrive later than 7:45 pm at the AGM you lose the right to vote with option 2 as well. In that case, your vote becomes "unvoted".

In both options, your vote will be confidential info between me (election committee) and you, unless you keep gossiping about it during AGM. We will unveil the next BDSA President between 8:30 - 9 pm.
