WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (September 11, 2019) - The Purdue Bangladesh Students Association will feature acclaimed Bangladeshi musicians at its Bangladesh Artist Festival II on September 28 from 6-9:30 p.m. in Loeb Playhouse in the Purdue University Stewart Center. The festival is being funded by the student activity fee through a Student Fee Advisory Board (SFAB) grant. Performances will showcase the prominent Bangladeshi band Miles and renowned Bangladeshi singer Tahsan Khan. The Bangladesh Artist Festival II will share and celebrate the rich Bangladeshi culture and traditions. The event is free and open to the Purdue and West Lafayette communities. A dinner will be provided following the performances.

The Bangladesh Students Association strives to bring the culture and heritage of Bangladesh to Purdue students, faculty and the surrounding area. The Bangladesh Artist Festival II will highlight the diversity of culture and music at Purdue University. This will be the second consecutive year the student organization has hosted its Artist Festival. Free public admission will begin at Loeb Playhouse at 5 p.m. As guests enter, dinner coupons will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Exciting entertainment will kick off with a performance by solo artist Tahsan Khan from 6-7:30 p.m. A brief intermission will take place from 7:30-8 p.m. The band Miles will follow with a lively performance from 8-9:30 p.m. A dinner featuring Bangladeshi food will be served following the performances at 9:30 p.m.

“It is really exciting for the whole Bangladeshi community at Purdue to have this opportunity to bring Miles and Tahsan,” Bangladesh Student Association President Mohammad Shams Ud Duha said. “Thanks go to SFAB for allocating the grant for this event. We believe that this is just the beginning and we look forward to inviting many more musicians in future and share our rich musical traditions with Purdue students.”

The Bangladesh Artist Festival II welcomes all Purdue students and faculty, the surrounding community and Bangladesh students and communities from nearby colleges and areas. The Bangladesh Students Association is proud to feature popular musicals acts Miles and Tahsan Khan. A pioneering Bangladeshi rock group, Miles is currently on tour in the United States and Canada. The Bangladesh Artist Festival II is one of their 24 North American shows. Tahsan Khan is a Bangladeshi singer-songwriter, composer, actor, teacher and model. A night full of Bangladeshi entertainment and music will bring a taste of the culture, traditions and heritage of Bangladesh to all.
